This temple, dedicated to Horus, was constructed in 237 BC and was finished in 57 BC. It is the best preserved ancient temple in Egyp and it is the most important temple after Karnak. It measures 137 meters long and 36 meters high, and represents the typical temples construction: it has a Pilon, a yard, an Hypostyle room, an offerings chamber, a central room and a Sanctuary. The temple of Edfu is located on the west bank of the Nile. The outside walls have large number of inscripts which together provides important information of the Greco-Roman period, and have information about religion, language and details of the construction of the temple. It also has legends that describes the great battle between Horus and Seth. Hence, the temple was center of several sacred festivals to Horus. In the main building are numerous reliefs, inclusive there is an inscription that describes the Feast of the "Beautiful Meeting", the annual reunion Between Horus and his wife.
